Well...on to the forth (and almost last) of the original set of Hitchhiker's Guide books. We find Arthur Dent back on Earth, which has not been destroyed (I won't spoil the how on this – especially as I’m not completely clear on how Ford pulled it off) looking to help a girl he's fallen in love with, figure out why he's been given a fishbowl with a strange inscription, figuring out where all the dolphins went, trying to find his battered copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide and finally finding the message that God left for all of creation (which falls along the lines of 42 as the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything). The mystery-like storyline combined with the series’ characteristic sarcasm definitely makes it very hard to put down. I’d say it’s the funniest of the books thus far with the healthy dose of irreverent humor we've come to expect from this series.

    Great book

This book is witty, funny, and just all around awesome. I would reccomend this book to all of my friends if they knew what I was talking about. Maybe they should pick up the first book.

    It's insane

This book is insane. Arthur and his girlfriend are definatly an odd couple. This book is among the most interesting in the series. A good buy, I recommend it if you love Douglas Adams as I do!

Slightly disappointing to a crazy HHGttG fan

Okay, it's a nice little story about Arthur getting a girlfriend (which seems rather odd-- Arthur always seemed like the type who'd have a horribly difficult time trying to find a date), but it doesn't really add to the "trilogy". The plot has very little, well, plot, and almost no resolution. True, few HitchHiker books have any resolution, but this lack-of-resolution seems more unpleasant than the others. Zaphod and Trillian are not around, Marvin keels over (and is actually fairly content at the time-- gasp of horror!), and Ford is sadly neglected in the story. Arthur's attitude towards Ford throughout the book makes the reader wonder why Ford bothered to save him from Earth in the first place. The first three HitchHiker books were brilliant, and I'm sure this one had its highlights (I must admit, the chapter where Ford gets them onto the space ship through a scientific "break in. Through." is hillarious), but perhaps this would have been better left unpublished.

The best of the Hitchhiker's Guide

Out of all the books this one has to be the best for more than one reasone. Reason 1.You find out what Ford's favorite movie is. Reason 2.It is complete and total madness!!!!!!!!!!!! Reason 3. .........There is no reason 3 it just is the best!!! Out of every book I have ever read it has to be my favorite book ever!
