The author's experiences, not a comprehensive discussion
If you want a travel book about one guy's experiences in Afghanistan, this book gets four stars. If you want any sort of in-depth discussion of the 1980's Mujahidin resistance, this ain't it. Like all of Kaplan's books, it's interesting and worth reading, but kinda light reading, overall.
