    Missing a lot

After reading 'Intensity' and 'Dark Rivers of the Heart', I came to expect a lot of Koontz novels. However, this title did not come close to fulfulling my enjoyment. Characters were left wholely undeveloped, leaving the reader little connection to them and their feelings. Although it is a straight-forward read, it was difficult to get through as it had a lot of 'dead' spots to struggle though in reading. The entire ending was lacking and off-the-wall. I'm a huge Richard Laymon fan, so like different endings, but this one just left too much out there. On the positive side, it did provide some suspense seeing the action solely thru the main character's eyes as he plodded thru his search, but all in all, I was disappointed in this book. Koontz is 2.5 out of 4 in my eyes so far (I'll give 'Tick Tock a half-vote in addition to 'Intensity' and 'Dark Rivers of the Heart''s full vote)

I am a fairly new reader of Koontz novels. This one was definitely not one of my favorites. It was slow, sappy, and unbelievable. I was expecting a different outcome in the end. Read it if you like, but be warned...

Good beginning, good middle, STUPID ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this book was really stupid. Although it starts out extremely promising, it steadily goes downhill from there.I was terribly disappointed. However it was well written and it did keep me in a certain level of suspense.

Koontz has lost his ability to write an excellent book

I am sorry, but this book was a disapointment to me. I have been a Koontz fan for over six years, and as time goes by, his books are loosing their quality. There is too much description in this book, it drags severely in the middle, and the all the supporting characters are severely underdeveloped. If I didn't know what Koontz is capable of I wouldn't be so dissapointed. By far, his older works are better.
