Not sure what happened
I debated giving this book a 3 'Okay, but not great', but truely, I was disappointed. I've read several of Ms. Deveraux's novels and have always enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to this one. What I thought was the main plot was never really explained, I didn't find the love affair believable, I couldn't relate to the characters, and I didn't like the end. Sorry to sound so harsh, but I know Ms. Deveraux could have done better.

Very disappointing
I've read most of Ms. Deveraux's books, and have usually enjoyed them -- or else I wouldn't have read so many. This was not one of them. The story meandered so much, I really couldn't keep track of where or when anything was happening. And there were so many loose ends that were left hanging. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Great story
This was my first Jude Deveraux book. I really like it! The storyline was unique and interesting. Characters were great. Will definitely read another from her now.

not so good
I loved Miss Deveraux's historical romances but was hesitant about this one. Though the mystery of the ghosts and what really happened to stacy keep you on your toes for awhile, it was disappointing to know the ending was not as interesting as i was led to believe. The ending didn't impress me. Plus the romance between the characters seemed as if it was forced just to make the story come together.

Great Read
This was a perfect book to curl up to with a nice cup of hot cocoa on a cold rainy or snowy day. It was a little slow in the first two chapters but she didn't make you wait long to get to the point. The charcters were easy to like even if you did not agree with their choices. Again, it was a great read.

How fun!
This was a quick easy read. I can't see all the negative reviews. It scared me a little with the rear view mirror scene. Bravo Jude because your use of ghosts were not overdone. And the English characters were fun and original. I also loved the setting and the characters were right on for a quick read.

Rather stale
This book tells the tell of how Jace Montgomery goes to England to find out why his fiance Stacy committed suicide. Or did she? The clues can be found in the Priory house, which is haunted by a ghost Anne, who also supposedly committed suicide. This book was fairly stale. It reminded me a heck of a lot of Devereaux's "Holly".

I've given up on her
This was the worst thing she has ever written. Bad characters, bad plot, bad love scenes. After several disappointing novels I'm giving up. Read her earlier works particularly a Knight in Shinning Armor.

Hey Jude
I hesitated buying this book because i've been so disappointed in Jude's last 5-8 books (i've lost count). Sorry to say she didn't disappoint, this was as bad as those. I feel like maybe someone else is writing for her now or was writing for her when she wrote truly great stories. I quess i'm going to have to start depending on the library for her books now.

not up to par
After reading A Knight in Shining Armor and Rememberance I thought that this book would for sure deliver but sadly it did not. The book tended to drag and although the story line was good I feel that she should've taken a different approach as to how the ending would be given away to us readers. The whole story could've easily been summed up a lot sooner. I also feel like she could've elaborated a little more where Nigh and Jace were concerned. It is supposed to be a romance after all but we really didn't know too much about what was going on between them until the last two chapters or so. Hopefully, her next book will be a whole lot better and not such a disappointment.

A reviewer
I've read several books by this author. Most are good, all have been entertaining. This book was barely entertaining and not very good. I was disappointed and a little bored.

First time reader.
It was my first time reading a Jude Deveraux book and I was a bit dissapointed, I've read some of her short stories from other books and I gotta say they were better. The story is interesting, but the end just stops... like there could have been more to say and she didn't. I'm not discouraged, I will try another one of her books.

Eh
It was ok. I didn't like the ending. It felt like she got tired of writing the story and just ended it very quickly. It was enjoyable enough until the end.
