Something New is a novel that any wife and mother can totally relate to. The boredom and frustration of suburbia and the schedules of mother maintenance are challenges that most women at home experience. The main character, Ellen, puts it all into words in such a way, we nod our heads and say "Amen!" Her sharp wit had me laughing out loud all the way through the book. A wonderful read!

Janis Thomas heads into dangerous territory with issues, thoughts, and feelings that women have, but won't always admit to (not even to ourselves). Ellen Ivers' internal monologue made me laugh out loud more times than I can count, and her truthful self-reflection made me stop and think more than your average "chick lit" story. I can't wait to see what Thomas does next!

I found this novel to be a delightful read from beginning to end. The author's quick wit and ability to get to the heart of the matter had me up half the night to see what happened next. As a 40-something mom, I can totally relate to Ellen's suburban boredom, her fantasy life, her addiction to pop-tarts. She is a heroine who I can relate to, so much that she seems like a friend. I can't wait for Thomas' next book!

I loved Something New! It was a great read. Most women like Ellen, if they are honest with themselves, have had these feelings, when life gets crazy. It was funny and thoughful, full of situations that most mothers/wives can relate to. It is fiction but reads like non-fiction. I loved the book and can't wait for her next one!

Janis Thomas has created a marvelous character in Ellen, who says what we think, but don't admit. Her inner dialogue is witty and authentic and I just couldn't wait to see what she came up with next. She has motivated many of us to get unstuck and try "Something New". This is a book you will truly enjoy!
