    Hmm…this is a tricky one…

On one hand I liked this book—for the sweet, tender moments, and the humor.

On the other hand, I felt the author harbors resentment and disappointment.

I read to be uplifted and entertained, which this book did in places, but there were many instances where I felt the entertainment value was overshadowed by negativity and whining. Because of this, I didn’t finish the book.

I’ve heard great things about this author/blogger, but this particular read didn’t do much for me.

A collection of stories, not a cohesive one.

The book reads like lots of blog posts, which makes sense since the author is known for her blog (which I have never read). Some of the stories are down-right funny, but others are just nice. I appreciate her "keeping it real" but thought there might be more substance than there was to the book. She also should've led with why she chose the book title and brought things full circle. Instead, I felt the title and subtitle were more an after thought and that the book itself didn't really relate, which made me sad.

Though I couldn't relate with too much and didn't agree with all of the author's parenting choices, I did find some profit in this book. Sometimes her sarcasm seemed slightly mean, though I'm sure she only meant to be funny, and I got a few laughs/smiles from the stories. It also made me appreciate the complexities and strength mothers must have if they are to be good mothers (even if it's slightly scary). It also ended on a positive, sweet note, which is good.

I enjoyed reading this - there were some pretty funny stories and as mom of young kids, several I could easily relate to. That being said it wasn't a "must read it all right now" type of book for me. I'd read a chapter or two at a time versus finishing it all in one sitting.
