Spider-Man Noir

Spider-Man in the 1930's? Oh yeah!

Okay I'll admit it this right up front. I recently became interested in Spider-Man Noir due to playing the new XBOX 360 title: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions which features Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Man Noir was a very good book. I was intrigued by the idea that Spider-Man gets his start in the 1930's during the Great Depression. The artwork compliments the gritty, dark, and graphic story. I was curious as to how Spidey's powers would work in 1930's New York but surprisingly they are just as applicable back then as they are in current day New York with the exception of Web-slinging. Spidey can create organic webbing but he doesn't use it for web-swinging, it's more for apprehending or incapacitating perps. As with any incarnation of Spider-Man, Spidey-Noir comes with his rogues gallery re-imagined for the 1930's. I won't give away any spoilers but let me just say that these classic reinvented villains are cleverly written for Spider-Man Noir. In closing, I will say that Spider-Man Noir is the darkest version of Spider-Man I've ever read and any fan of Spider-Man would do his or herself a favor by picking up this book. If you have no incentive to read the book at least do what I did. Play the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions game first for a brief preview and see how interested you'll be to further explore the Noir Dimension.

Spider Man Noir is a darker take on everybodies favorite Web-Head

I am a long time Spider Man fan, and have been one since pretty much day one. I found out about this series by accident when I discovered a trailer for the next Spider Man Video Game Spider-Man Broken Dementions, curious I ordered this and I found that I really enjoyed it. 1930's Spider Man works surprisingly well, and without spoiling anything lets just say that this Spider-Man is not as friendly as his traditional Friendly Nabor Hood counterparts in the Marvel, and Ultimate Universes and some may be surprised how different the 1930's makes Spider-Man.This is a darker take on this well known super hero, but rest assured this is a interesting take on him. Old favorite characters and super villains are changed by this 1930's setting as well. Favorite characters such as J Jonah Jameson The Vulture The Black Cat and the Green Goblin are in here too. and like Spider-Man himself are changed to fit the 1930's setting and I think most of it is great and fitting for the era. I have been pretty disappointed by Spider-Man comics in the last 3 years. Mostly because of the events of ONE MORE DAY, those who have read it have a pretty good idea why, but I enjoyed Spider Man Noir. It is one of the better Spider Man stories to come out in quite a while and if you enjoy it. I would read X-Men Noir as well. In closing Spider Man Noir is a is a thrilling ride from beginning to end, and a must read for Spider Man fans and those who would like to see a darker take on Spider Man. And I am very much looking forward to part 2 EYES WITHOUT A FACE.
