    I Also Recommend:

    A Great Read

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were awesomely written out. It is most touching in some parts and other parts I found I couldn't put the book down. Lynn Flewelling did an amazing job creating the Nightrunner Series. Reading about Alec and Seregil's lifes really captivated me, especially when they found they had feelings for eachother. I give this book two thumbs.

    Looking for Adventure?

This book is just what you're looking for. I have only read one other book by Lynn Flewelling but she quickly captivated me with her style and dynamic plot. The characters are all engaging and well written--and I'm not gonna lie--I'm absolutely in LOVE with Seregil and Alec (The two protagonists of the tale)! If you're looking for a fun intriguing series, then the Nightrunner series will not disappoint. In the words of the critics I give this book 'two enthusiastic thumbs up!'

I just can't see it, in the Darkness.

I just can't see it, everyone seems to think this story is the best thing since the wheel was invented. I found the developing romance between Seregil and Alec to be the most interesting thing in the book and kept on reading just to see how this turns out. Kudos to Lyn Flewelling for being bold enough step into the 21st century and make her two prime characters of a different persuasion and still keep it rich in real feelings and emotions, but not graphic. The story itself just seems to skip along on and off the path. You are told that the adventures in housebreaking are challenging, dangerous and difficult, but not a moment is spent describing how it is done, when it's done. Just off I go, and pow! I'm back with the goods. The prime villain appears infrequently and with not much gusto. There is little explanation about the spy Rythel who somehow arrives in town takes up a prime position as a blacksmith and wrecks havoc with the towns fortification. If you are looking for a book with lots of action, swordplay and magic, pick up Jenifer Roberson's Sword Maker or C.L. Wilson's King of Sword and Sky. This is a book that will be thought of as a winner by those who are looking for a non chalenging kinda love story with mild action and political sub plots.

Great series of adventures & intrigues

The second book of the Nightrunners series is equally as exciting and heartpounding as the first book 'Luck in the Shadows'. Great characters abound in this series. Loved Alec & Seregil's relationship among others. It was very interesting that Ms. Flewelling made the two main male characters fall in love. You should have an open mind when you read this though it's not explicit. It would be interesting to read more of their romantic relationship along with the future adventures of these two very different yet bonded soulmates. This series is one of the best that I've ever read. Hope there's another after 'Traitor's Moon'!

Superb Fantasy, but whoa on the free love

Lynn Flewelling continues the riveting rouge's tale of high adventure she began in Luck in the Shadows. Sadly she also continues the very contrived gay love affair between the two main (male) characters. I say contrived because Flewelling waits until the very end to give a '...and they lived happily ever after...AND THEY'RE GAY!!!!' ending. I wonder, is this a political statement or just an effort to make her story 'different'? In one case Flewelling does a poor job, in the other, an unecessary one. Instead of dealing with the characters homosexual (or bisexual) relationship in the text of this novel where it can be addressed in the course of the story, she begins the physical aspect in the last 10 pages of a 500 page novel. In other words a sucker punch to the unsuspecting reader. Hints of this relationship are sprinkled throughout the two novels in this series, but they seem thrown out of context with the rest of the story. And this last is why I give only 4 stars to Stalking Darkness; while a superb fantasy story and great read, it seems that Flewelling wrote a story with two heterosexual characters and then, after the fact, felt the need to spicen it up and added the (gay) romantic parts.

One of the very few 5 stared books I ever give

Lynn has a real gift for telling a darn good story. It is obvious she loves her characters and puts a lot of time and energy into her writing. With her books, 'Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness, and Traitors Moon' Lynn has given the fantacy genre a fresh and realistic world. YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK!
