    A MUST READ

This book is very inspirational and uplifting. Ms. Stringer has experienced tremendous adversities in her life but with each and every situation she manages to pull through. The book is written in such a way that you feel as if you are personally there experiencing every challenge and celebration right along with her. There are so many life lessons to be gained from this reading.

I would recommend as a gift to aspiring women.

    Beautifully written!

A dear friend asked me how I liked Standing Tall. My reply, 'I loved it!' And, I am in no way, shape or form the hard-core basketball follower that she is! What impressed me about Vivian Stringer's book? Her accomplishments, her honesty, her humor, her beliefs, her love for not only the game, but her family and friends, her sharing incidents in her life that I could relate to in my own life as well- All these plus so much more that you, too, will find in this 'must read.' I promise you that you won't be disappointed! Way to go, C. Vivian Stringer!

Inspiring Story Filled with Genuine American Values

You do NOT have to be a hoops junkie to love this book. Coach Stringer's story is inspiring and motivating and you will find yourself cheering for her and for her 'basketball families.'

    Empowering

Great read!! I could not put it down. I was concerned going into the book because I thought it was going to be all about the famous Don Imus incident, but that's actually a rather small part. This is a book about facing a series of challenges with intelligence and grace and achieving great success in spite of those obstacles. C. Vivan Stringer deserves every accolade she has ever received and then some!

    Very interesting biography

I have long been an avid follower of women's sports, and knew who Vivian Stringer was. The book is interesting and a fast read. By the end of the book, the reader feels that she knows what makes Vivian Stringer the successful coach that she is. I like biographies in general, and this was one of the better ones I've read.

    Great Read!!

I read this book because I am a former girls high school basketball coach and Vivian Stringer is a role model for all of today's coaches. I knew I would like it but what surprised me was how great a book it is for anyone. You don't have to love basketball to love this book. She is a wonderful person with an interesting life that can serve as an inspiration to anyone. She has a handicapped child so anyone in that situation will appreciate how it affected her life. She lost her husband at an early age and how she dealt with it could help any young widow. She is able to tell you about how she felt - the good and the bad - and you can just relate to it. It is a very real story of a person who is talented and gifted but had some bad things happen to her like all of us. It truly is inspirational.

    Required reading!

This book should eventually become required reading in schools. It is well written for ages 12 and older, including the elderly (me!). The honesty of the book is what makes it moving. Her story explains why she is such a good mentor of young women today.
