    WoW!

This book was great! I loved the suspense it had and the love scenes were steaming! OMG Ms. McKenna, if you're reading this review I would like to ask you to write a story bout Sean and Davey. They both sound super interesting. I would be the first one at Barnes & Noble to buy the any book about theses two characters!!

    Its a hot read

Connor McCloud has been living in an eternal hell for over a year and a half. Connor was set up to die by a fellow agent Ed Riggs. On that day Connor¿s hopes to love Erin Riggs, Ed¿s daughter, were torn away from him. A former enemy Kurt Novak has escaped from prison and only Connor thinks Novak is going after Erin. Connor sets himself up as her personal bodyguard. Erin is startled to see Connor back in her life. She has always wanted Connor since she was sixteen, now ten years later her feelings are those of a grown woman. Since Connor is set on being her bodyguard 24/7 Erin decides to act on her desires for Connor. The suspense is riveting and the sensuality is tantalizing. The terror will grab you and won¿t let go. But the passion and sexuality between Erin and Connor is all consuming. This book is a must have.

Will Erin be able to trust Connor to save her life?

Connor McCloud has been living in a void. He lost a chance with the one woman he hoped to spend the rest of his life with. One day Connor gets a phone call informing him that a man with a vendetta against him broke out of prison. What¿s worse is that another man, Novak, who intends on killing Erin Riggs, also escaped. Connor assigns himself as Erin¿s bodyguard. Erin feels Novak has no need to come after her, and initially resists Connor¿s attempts at helping her. In the meantime, both Connor and Erin are suffering incredibly bad cases of lust for one another. Erin fell in love with Connor years ago. She would never admit that to Connor. As a matter of fact, she resists his efforts to help her. Why does Erin fight her feelings for Connor? Can she trust him now? Connor has known Erin since she was seventeen, as he worked for her father. Connor let years and years pass before he indicates an interest in Erin. When the time seemed right, however, Connor was severely hurt and his partner killed. When this recent threat is exposed, Connor realizes that he will do anything to protect Erin. Connor is the only one who senses a threat against her. Will Connor be able to protect Erin despite her belief she is not in danger? Will Connor be able to resist his passion for her? This is what brings Erin and Connor together in STANDING IN THE SHADOWS. Connor is incredibly intense. His dedication to Erin borders on obsession. Along with his brothers Davy and Sean, Connor will use whatever means necessary to protect Erin. All the while Connor is with Erin, in her professional dealings with a man Connor holds highly suspicious, Erin is forced to confront her feelings. What will Erin do? I read STANDING IN THE SHADOWS in nearly one sitting. I just couldn¿t put the book down. Why is Connor so convinced that Erin needs protection? Is he obsessed with her, or are his instincts accurate? How is Erin able to deal with the intensity surrounding Connor? Will Erin be able to sort her feelings involving Connor? These were questions that had to be answered, especially because of the Erin and Connor¿s past. Connor¿s sensitivity was a surprise and an enjoyment. His character was a fantastic blend of Alpha/Beta. His determination would not be swayed by anyone. Erin is a very strong heroine, who exudes strength and intelligence. The relationship between Connor and Erin was powerful. The sensuality between them was absolutely amazing. The underlying drama was of such intensity that I was riveted. It was almost painful to watch the mind games Novak used in order to make Connor seem like he was crazy. I was kept wondering how long Erin would trust Connor. I mention trust more than once in this review, because it is almost key in STANDING IN THE SHADOWS. The intrigue in STANDING IN THE SHADOWS kept this reviewer guessing. From what seemed to be a confusing prologue until very deep into the book, Ms. McKenna kept the surprises coming. It was also a treat to enjoy a few brief scenes with Seth, from BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Continuity is always enjoyable. I am eager to see which of Connor¿s brothers might have a story in the future. ¿August 2003., 384 pp., $14.00, Trade Paperback., ISBN: 1-75820-453-1.¿
