This Book is Teriffic!

This book is so much better than the movie! In the book, the plot is more developed, and the characters come to life in the reader's imagination; just as a book should do. The book is set in the period between episodes II & III, while the Republic is kicking the CIS's (or as Rex so kindly refest to them "klankers") butts. The book's storyline is based around the kidnapping of a huttlet;a baby Hutt,and how Anikin and his new Padawan learner, Ahsoka Tano, persur it's kidnappers and return him to Jabba. The book is more in depth than the movie and is definately a spoiler, but a must-read before seeing the feature. Take it from me, the book will blow you mind!

exciting military science fiction thriller

The Clone War between the Separatists and the Republic takes a strange twist when agents of the former kidnap Rotta the infant son of Jabba the Hutt from his Tattoine palace. Jabba offers a deal to the Republic he will allow their vessels safe access of his space sector in exchange for the rescue of his child. The Republic, knowing the strategic value of Hutt¿s zone especially at a time their adversaries are winning, assigns Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to conduct the rescue mission. Besides a top military unit, accompanying them is newly assigned apprentice fourteen year old Ahsoka for Skywalker to train. Separatist leader Count Dooku learns of the Republic¿s efforts to obtain the Hutt offspring he knows the incredible morale boost to his side and the devastation mentally to the already shaky enemy¿s confidence with the killing of Skywalker ¿The Chosen One¿. He assigns assassin Asajj Ventress to kill the knight and his master and sends battle droids to insure none escape. --- Tied to the Clone Wars TV saga, this is a fast-paced exciting Star Wars military science fiction thriller. The action-packed story line never slows from start to finish, but the plot premise is a bit thin beyond the vivid battle scenes. In some ways the novel feels as if Karen Traviss prime directive was to introduce key players from the TV series. Still it is well written and fun to read as the readers realize how desperate the Republic needs to partner with Hutt, who feels out of character as a drooling caring father. --- Harriet Klausner

The book is a really good!!!!

The book is really good becase it had a lot of devinishion but it is also a never going to stop reading book. What I mean to say is that people would never put the book down like my dad he never put thr book intell 5hrs later, I mean if your kid loves star wars or wants to read adventure let them read the book it really will improve your reading and his or her READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Why a good field commander is a bad Jedi

The novelization of The Clone Wars far exceeds any expectations based on the brilliantly conceived, but often clumsily executed animated feature (which is, after all, an extended marketing ploy to promote the Cartoon Network animated series). This is largely because Traviss very astutely takes advantage of the written medium to fill in blanks in characterization that were necessarily missing from the CG performances; writing in third-person limited allows for a lot more character development and speculation on a character's feelings and motivations than even the most nuanced digital performance. Traviss makes the most of the more leisurely book medium to bring to life Anakin Skywalker's internal conflicts, as well as his relationships with new Padawan Ahsoka Tano and the dedicated clone troopers of the 501st legion. The Clone Wars is a good place to explore why one of the best field commanders serving the Republic is a bad Jedi: loyalty to the men he serves with, a refusal to admit that the ends justify the means and that collateral damage is ultimately meaningless, a deep caring about every life lost or saved, his relentless quest to save every being he can, and some he can't. Traviss also provides an insightful look into the mind of Rex, a courageous, fiercely loyal clone trooper in Skywalker's 501st. Fans of Ahsoka will wish they saw through her eyes more often and with less superficiality, but all in all, Traviss effectively manipulates the trade-off of stunning visual effects for more dialogue and psychological drama.

Great Star Wars Story

I don't know how faithful this book is to the movie that's coming out this week, but on it's own, it's a very entertaining story. Ms. Traviss's extensive insight into the hearts and minds of military servicemen isn't overwhelming or annoying in this story. The viewpoints of the clone troopers, the jedi and the sith are all presented. You even have the chance to get inside Jabba the Hutts head (which surprisingly isn't as gross as you might think). We all know how the clone wars end, but this story gives you great insight into the reasons for everyones actions. It in no way simplifies things. There's no simple conflict between good and evil here, just really complicated beings trying to survive and bring order to a universe of chaos.

Good Sci-Fi Action Book

I just bought this and I have to say it's a good story. Even though the film got terrible reviews, the book vividly describes the ongoing war against evil. It's a cool story. The only reason the movie got bad reviews was because of the TMNT ( aka BAD) style animation and some gross-out jokes (all not included here. The bottom line is it's a good book just don't see the movie.
