I'm a avid reader of Stargate novels (SG-1 and Atlantis) and was looking forward to perusing the recent release of Hydra. I was crestfallen when I started to read it.
It was confusing from beginning to end, the story kept jumping back and forth between events/time line. It was all about the robot version of SG-1 which spanned several more generations featuring Alpha, Gamma, Theta, and so on. As each generation progressed, they changed personalities, the Theta team being the most aggressive and sociopathic of all.
For the most part, the characters resembled the original tv series Stargate SG-1. The overall tone was okay. But I did not find the novel all that compelling. Perhaps it was due to having two authors writing it?
