BRILLIANT!

Amazing steampunk artwork paired an excellent selection of Poe writings. All of my favorite stories and poems have been included in this beautiful edition.

Delightful. All of Poe's brilliance, and the delicacy of steampunk packaged into one.

Though the artwork was the big draw for me, I'm not sure ho

Though the artwork was the big draw for me, I'm not sure how the tall Cat-in-the-Hat-type chapeau fits in with Poe and/or steampunk. And "The Spectacles" and "The Balloon Hoax" seem to have been selected merely for their steampunk possibilities, as I consider them poor Poe.
I was also disappointed in the illustrations for "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" because four of the five were virtually identical (people seated around a dining table; surely two would have been sufficient).
And I was surprised at "Murders in the Rue Morgue," which In hadn't re-read in years, and seemed deserving of Holmes' derisive comments in "A Study in Scarlet." I'd have preferred "The Purloined Letter," particularly as "Murders" didn't particularly lend itself to steampunk imagery.
But I was pleased with the prose and illustrations for "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Fall of the House of Usher" and all the poems. The book also looks and feels good; it has a nice heft and size. So while I found it a mixed bag, I'm glad I bought it, and am looking forward to future "Steampunk" books from Zdenko Basic and Manuel Sumberac.
