Well-written, thorough and affirming, with practical strategies that really help

My remarriage has been full of surprises that my parents did not deal with, therefore, I have had no role models for how to be in a stepcouple. We have been married over 11 years, and with various forms of help (books, support group, counseling), we have managed to navigate over many rough waters. This book offers extremely valuable tools for making our remarriage strong, which I wish we had had 11 years ago! If you are in a remarriage, at no matter what stage, you should read this book now! There are myriad situations that pop up to confound even the most caring stepcouples, which sometimes result in stress and loyalty conflicts within a family. This book covers a great many of those situations, such as recognizing and setting boundaries, handling style and value differences, and even considering 'unfinished business' in the stepcouples' emotional lives. I found this book to be affirming, comforting and also claryifying to some ongoing struggles we have faced, resulting in a sense of calm on our relationship that serves to draw us closer. I'd recommend this book to anyone in a remarriage, considering remarriage or even to older children in a blended family.

    Very helpful

This book helped my husband and I to be more understanding about the issues in our blended family. If you are in a blended family or getting married you need to read this book.
