Excellent
Again, so very many typos and editing errors. As a huge Civil War fan, I found this book extremely easy to read and and informative. A truely Great Book.

The greatest ever
How do you write a review about a book that won the Pulitzer prize? I thought it was one of the greatest books ever written. The book kept me interested from the first page until the last page. I also suggest that you read the rest of the trilogy.

A thrilling and superb historical novel...
Bruce Catton's thrilling and superb historical non-fiction novel, 'A Stillness at Appomattox,' would most definitely and non-arguably be rated at a perfect 5 stars. Undoubtedly, this novel is filled with tension, emotion and extreme factuous and detailed descriptions of the heartbreaking and glorious final year of America's Civil War in 1864. To be truthful, I myself, a 13 year old High School student, did not beleive that an almost 400 page war book and not only that, but an extremely detailed 400 page war book would be interesting or understandable at all. I thought that I wouldn't be able to follow along and understand the novel entirely, but everything was completely the opposite. The character description and the depth of emotional description is excellent and superb! It's so detailed, it's hard to beleive you're reading a war novel! I thought reading such a novel for my summer reading program at my High School would be too much, but I ended up enjoying it and most undoubtedly reccommend this brilliant novel to others.

Bruce Catton: Best Civil War Author of the 20th Century
McPherson, Foote, Sears, Boritt, Woodward. All outstanding scholars and writers of the Civil War era... but for exposure to the master from decades past, try this diamond on for size. There is none better than Catton.
