    Novelist, not a Screenwriter?

I am a novelist and bought the book hoping to pick up some tips. I underline things in books that are worthy of going back and reviewing, and I am very pragmatic. I almost underlined everything in the book! Chapter 19 (A Writer's Method) was the practical, day-to-day info on how to succeed that I had been in search of for years in a compact form from someone who knew what they were doing. You cannot go wrong buying this book, and I'm going to his seminar to learn more!

This book is very helpful if you are starting out. You have to

This book is very helpful if you are starting out. You have to know the rules before you get good enough to break them. I do not agree with his thoughts on the use of voice over. Some of the best movies ever made have voice over and the voice over, when it's done right gives the film a personal touch.<br />

    Simply Incredible

In short, this book is what everyone else has said and more. I would love to go into details, but if I start I'll never stop. Just...get it and trust me on this one. It's amazing. Most books that instruct you suck and don't make sense and don't really seem to hit home. This one does. Trust me.

U write fiction, you need this book

My thing is novel writing, not screenwriting, and this book is geared for screenwriters...but "Story" is really about story theory in any format. "Story" is the best book on creating fiction I've ever read and I've read about 50-60 books on the topic. Buy it, and hear what he has to say. It just might change the way you approach your work.
