I really enjoyed this book, although it is just summer fluff reading. The recipes sound great, and the plot line is mostly interesting, although there is a little too much detail at parts. To be honest, I like her writing style and appreciate the slight overuse of detail, since any story I write lacks in that specific area. I found the ending hilarious! Although in the last book I had absolutely no idea who the murderer was right up until they pulled out the gun, this one was a bit more predictable. Overall, a great book, and I just bought the next in the series! Can't wait to read it!:). Also, as an afterthought, if you haven't yet read the series, and I know I haven't read that far into it either, but anyways, the first book is my personal favorite, so you should read it!!!~Anonymous Reviewer

    Just Okay for Me

After reading the first book I wanted to give the author one more chance before I gave up on the series. Book two for me was an improvement over the first book but not enough to bring me back. Perhaps its just me but the main character just rubs me the wrong way at times. I find her more than a bit condescending and suffering from a too high opinion of herself. And the constant cookie solves all ills storyline tiring. Find a dead body eat a cookie, need information from someone pass them a bag of cookies, etc. Its a light easy to keep up with read if you are desperate for something to do.

    more from this reviewer

    A lot of fun.

I like the series and enjoy reading it when I'm in between books from my favorite authors. The recipes are awesome and find myself hungry everytime I read it. The author uses the characters name in the dialogue excessively. She sets up the scene so, you know who is doing the talking and yet she continues to use the characters names. I find myself yelling at the book saying "I know who you are talking to, stop name dropping!" I'm not sure I would buy the series for my personal library but, I would borrow them from the public library or a friend.
