This author has some great writing skills, but a bit of a political agenda in this book. He does bring up some real issues in the United States today, but fails to offer any ideas or solutions for them. It didn't bother me at first, but when he got around to criticizing the US Armed Forces in Iraq, I felt I must point out a couple things the author would have discovered if he'd done the proper research:
Iraq is not Vietnam. We are not at war with Iraq. We are at war with terrorism, particularly the Taliban. My son and several of his buddies served a one year deployment to Iraq with the US Army. The Iraqi people love the American soldiers and are very glad for their assistance.

That said, the rest of the book was OK. It had a thread of humor to it, and some interesting characters, but the story moved too slowly for my taste, and the plot was weak at best.

    Political rant

There is the foundation for a good story here. With all the repetitive political ranting, the story got lost.
I'm sure most who read this can agree with the authors political reasoning and the problems our country is facing, but, having it repeated every few pages was a tad much.
The author should have focused on tying up all the loose ends and actually giving the reader an ending to at least one of the storylines. There were no solutions or endings.
