This collection of stories by L'Amour should be classified as a self-improvement book as well as western. Lessons of selflessness, determination, self-confidence and just plain grit are embedded deeply in the characters of his heroes and heroines. The stories in themselves are well worth the read as westerns, but I also found myself moved to adopt the courage and character of the people L'Amour portrayed.
