Horrible, give this one a pass. His other books were good.

I am a combat vet from the first Gulf War. A hospital Corpsman with 1st CEB, 1st Mar Div, Task Force Ripper. I read a great deal of military history and have read most of Capt Couch's books. They are great.
There is not rythm here, it is a painful book to read. Normally a 350 page book with Spec Ops is done in a few days. I have had this for 5 days and cant seem to finish it. He keeps writing in the first person, there is no rhyme or reason to what he puts down. THIS is a fantastic opportunity to get inside the 75th Ranger Regiment. Instead it is written for dummies. I have not learned a single thing from this book. Whereas his work Finishing school is very informative. In some of the recent books from the Teams, Seals dont say nice things about Capt Couch. It is time for him to put away his paddle and his pen. THIS BOOK SUCKS

The complaints of the 1 star review are silly. It's a very informative book. It was vey detailed where it could be without breaching OPSEC. Since RASP is fairly new I'm unsure how a marine who served 20 years ago didn't learn anything. Great insight into op tempo and pedeployment training cycle. Must read for anyone considering an op40 contract.

    An informative read

Dick Couch provided an informative, impassioned, & accurate description of Ranger training, the structure of the 75th Ranger Regiment, garrison life for regimental Rangers, & the Operational Tempo at the time of publication.
