A definite read for those going south!

I picked this up as our family is contemplating moving down south, and as I am naturally curious as to new places I thought I'd give this a read. It is by far one of the best books I have found. With its wry wit and subtle humor mixed with some common sense bits, I found there is a lot I did not know about the south! Buy this and learn as I did how NOT to wear your hair, how to choose the right food and how to translate "southern" speech. Worth every'll find yourself reading and re-reading this gem. It is a 5 star book for sure!

    Laugh out loud funny!

This wonderfully funny book whisked me back to the south. It is a great read for southerners and yankees alike! I have given the book as a gift to several 'transplanted' friends. Although it is a humorous and satirical look at the south; it also seems to be the writer's journey (albeit kicking and screaming) to love her new home. Also recommended for southerners who have migrated north.

    Hilarious Guide and Reference Tool

Such a fun read! Yankees unite. You've found your handy manual. As a been-there-done-that Yankee transplant (returned to Philly -- native born), never thought I could relive the experience. Duffin-Ward has nailed it -- captured the essence of the vapors versus attytood. This book bites with charm and spot-on humor. The illustrations throughout are a hoot too. This is a must-own, irreverent, insightful, indispensable field guide to the land whose customs include cartons of Krispy Kremes as wedding favors.

    Funny and engaging

This book was a breeze to read and kept me laughing all the way through. The book contains some great observations about the differences between Northerners and Southerners and is told in a funny and engaging way. Although anyone with a sense of humor will find it funny, it is perfect for someone who is moving or just moved South.
