    You'll enjoy Sugarplum Surprises!

This Christmas story, set in the Bath of the early nineteenth century, is a delight. Saying it observes the usual conventions of Regency romances doesn't begin to credit what Fairchild has given us: her very endearing Duke who could be my own brother with his sensitivities and blind spots, her heroine who has the character to deny herself what she wants in the interest of someone else's happiness, without coming off like a martyr. These are "real" characters and I'm going to remember this pair for a long time. If you like historical romance, I'm positive you'll enjoy this book!

    Sugarplum Surprises Delights

Others reviewers have described this story better than I can. It is a lovely reworking of the Cinderella tale, and let me add that it kept me up until 2:30 a.m. because I didn't want to stop reading.<BR/>I thoroughly enjoyed how Elizabeth Fairchild wove in all of the thematic elements of her story as well as employing several entertaining twists and turns. By the end of the story I was rooting for one of the stepsisters and even had sympathy for the wicked stepmother--that's how well Ms. Fairchild plays on our heartstrings. A satisfying read.

    Charming Holiday Tale

This is a thoroughly enjoyable tale of an industrious young noblewoman who must disguise herself as an effusive french seamstress in order to support herself. The descriptions of the dresses are sumptuous and show Ms. Fairchild's usual attention to period detail. The story itself is warm and satisfying. Bravo!
