This was the first graphic novel I have ever read. I absolutely loved the art work in this graphic novel! Overall, I'd probably give it 4.5 stars. Since I'm new to the comic scene, having so many characters in this novel was a bit confusing.

    Super fun movie-like blockbuster!!

Just looking at Ed McGuinness' art makes you think big time movie blockbuster. Here, he and Jeph Loeb give us just that. There are huge over the top characters, plots, twists, and speeches all leading to an amazingly fun story. The art is the star as McGuinness gets to draw a who's who of the DC Universe and they're all awesome. Some don't like his art but I think that there is certainly a place for it and it fits perfectly here. Only drawback was the vast amount of characters involved, they don't get set up very well, so if you aren't a huge DC fan you might be scratching your head as to who they are. Overall, this a huge scale fun book that everyone can get into!

    It's good stuff, but

As with every comic book story, there's the inevitable law of plot holes. Furthermore, the story as a whole seemed rushed. But those aside, Loeb presents a great book that is definitely worth the price. The dichotomy between Batman and Superman is priceless. The book is rife with Silver Age references and characters. Hawkman and Captain Marvel show up, Luthor brings back the classic Perez Battlesuit, and the LexTowers are brought down once and for all (the tricky B13 technology notwithstanding). Highly recommended if you're the type of person who misses the old 'World's Finest' books from the Silver Age. This HC covers the end of Lex's presidency. For its beginnings, consult 'Superman: President Lex'.
