Great Book
In parts it has a slightly different approach from other survival books, but that is one of the reasons this book is so outstanding.
Another great aspect of the book is how well and easy it is to read, in some parts you can even "hear Les speaking".
Full of information and clear and with pictures to illustrate the techniques. A great book.
Is it the only one you will ever need? Maybe not, but it sure would be close.
Won't go wrong with this one.3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

Teenage son loves this book!
Bought this book for our son who loves everything survival/outdoors. Reads it often and shares interesting survival tips. Great conversation starter if your teenager is into this type of thing!

les stroud
anything les stroud is gold in my opinion. a good storyteller, survivalist, musician and filmographer hes the epitome of awesome. not to mention a heart of gold- while other survivalists murder everything they come across (bear) i watched this fine feathered canadian walk away from a potential meal just for his value of his own morals. good peoples

best outdoor survival book for Nook
Right now there isn't a better outdoor survival book for Nook. The only other book which I think beats this one is the SAS Survival Guide, but that is not available in ebook format. Les Stroud also had a TV show called Survivorman and this book covers a lot of the same topics in a more structured way.

Survivorman > Man vs. Wild
I was initially going to purchase the book from Bear Grylls, but after checking them both out determined that this was the far better choice. Stroud seemingly knows his stuff much more than Grylls. Stroud teaches how to survive when you literally have next to nothing except for the clothes on your back. The only book I think that stands up to this one as far as survival techniques is the U.S. Army survival handbook, however, this book is a much easier read, reading more like Les is talking to you rather than reading formal instructions. Highly recommended if you are frequently outdoors in wilderness settings.

Good read but a little skimpy on substance
I enjoyed the stories, but the survival techniques were a little basic. I would have liked to seen more in depth survival techniqes. Some more pictures of edible plants and animals and curing techniques would be nice. Good overall
