Started out good but went down hill fast. I'm a mary connealy fan. I loved Calico Canyon and The Kincaid Bride series so this was a big disappointment. You wanted to like the characters even though they were boring. Also to much angst over a the gun battle when the good guys were hardened veterans and the bad guys were beasts. It didn't play true. Was about 224 pages. Maybe it needed more story. Can't say I'd recommend it.

Swept Away by Mary Connealy was the second book that I received

Swept Away by Mary Connealy was the second book that I received for free from the Bethany House Blogger Program. When I saw that this book was set in Texas I had to choose it! I really enjoyed the plot line involving Luke getting back his family ranch.  I liked the interaction between Luke and Ruthie when they were working together, however, this book had the most awkward wedding scene I think that I have ever read.  I really felt for Ruthie and all that she had already been through, then, she gets an awful proposal, a rushed wedding, and promptly its back to business directly after it. I understand that Ruthie is a tough woman and a hard worker, but that makes me wish even more that she could have had some gentleness and tenderness from Luke. Other than the wedding, I enjoyed the book and its characters. I give the book 3 stars.
