    This is a very good beginning for a serial. The heroine is has a strong personality and a good motivation for her actions, the other characters are memorable, the post-apocalyptic setting is set up well (i.e., we're given enough background to know where we are, but it's secondary to the story moving forward), the writing is solid, there are good touches of humor, and there are intriguing hints of what's going to come. I'm eager for Part Two.
