In book #1, The Coming of the Horseclans, the immortal Milo Mora
In book #1, The Coming of the Horseclans, the immortal Milo Morai and his nomadic Horseclans tribes trekked from the western Great Plains to the East Coast of post-apocalyptic North America. Their goal was to establish a new homeland by the sea. Now, accompanied by Mara, his "undying" wife, and Aldora, an undying Ehleen (Greek) woman, Milo plans to build a new, improved nation, free of the technology and modern weaponry that brought about the destruction of the old world. Was this review helpful? Forming a new Confederation means uniting and/or conquering the many tribes and city states currently populating the East Coast, such as the fierce Ahrmehnee (Armenian) tribes and mountain folk living in the Appalachians, as well as city states formed by Ehleen (Greeks) and other European invaders now dwelling in the Carolinas and other former southern states. In book #2, which takes place several generations after book #1, Milo continues his subjugation of the Ehleen, moving southward from Pennsylvania toward Georgia where King Zastros and his massive army of over 120,000 men pose a serious threat to the emerging Confederation. Milo will need to call on all his allies--Ehleen, nomads from the west, and Lord Alexandros, leader of the pirates from the Sea Isles (former Bermuda), to save the Confederation from seemingly certain doom. And once again he will confront the witchmen from the Witch Kingdom (former Florida), who continually sow dissent in order to destroy the Confederation and rebuild the United States as a scientific dictatorship.
Book #2 marks the end of the nomadic Horseclans journey. From this point on, novels in the series focus primarily on politics and military campaigns and engagements. Readers who prefer stories of the Horseclans folk will have to jump ahead to later books, written as flashbacks in time: #7 Horseclans Odyssey, #12 A Woman of the Horseclans, and #13 Horses of the North.
