A fun and practical overview for organic and smart gardening.
I had checked this book out from the library and did not want to part with it when it was due. So, I turned to Barnes and Noble and made it part of my gardening library. I am somewhat of a beginner, urban gardener, so this is exactly what I need to give me practical information in a very fun and easy read. Enjoy. Was this review helpful? This is an entertaining, friendly, encouraging guide to organic gardening. While full of useful information, this is not a deep scholarly tome that will send you to the dictionary to decipher the author's prose. Rather, it's a user-friendly guide, filled with simple suggestions, self-deprecating humor and do-able solutions. A very enjoyable read, and really inspirational. Was this review helpful? There are illustrations of suggested plants, all rated for their ease in growing, hardiness, and watering needs. There are also lots of illustrations of garden layouts, many based on the author's Northern California home garden.
All in all, this is an unpretentious, friendly, helpful book. I would recommend it to anyone who is considering becoming more involved in gardening, and especially anyone who would like to find a healthier, more natural method of producing a beautiful garden.
