Better Than Sookie!
I was reading the sookie novels when they started to get a bet repetitive by book five. I happened to stumble on Tate Hallaway's novels in a bargain book section online. Read about the book and thought I'd give it a try. I find Tate to be an amazing author. Same sookie charm with a deeper twist, the main character in Tate's novel is a witch. I absolutley love Garnet! She'd win in a face off fight against sookie anyday.

Tall,Dark, and Dead
The book takes place in Madison, WI and I have lived in Madison, so it was fun to imagine vampires walking the streets there. An easy read, and a fun way to spend time. The book kept my interest, and had twists and turns. Definitely a book for female readers. If you like vampire stories, and quirky characters this is a great read.

Great Read
I got the book because the cover drew me in.. I sat down and started reading it and had a hard time putting it down. I thought the book was a great read.. Light, Funny, Thrilling, Edge of your Seat, and just all around good.. I must say something about the way she describes Parrish.. MMMMMM Candy... :) I would say to read the book..

Fantastic Humor
Tate Hallaway gives her characters independence and a sense of humor to the supernatural that they are involved in. I highly recommend her books for the light reader that wants to have a giggle.

Fun and upbeat! must read
This whole series is cute and fun, great for an easy read. Just the right amount of comedy and sex. Not for younger readers but great for adults who love sexy stories about vampires!

Readable but not engaging. Okay if you have absolutely nothing else to do.
I picked up this set based on on-line recommendations. What a let down. I found no wit, no charm, and no humor. The characters were not interesting. The plot was thin and non-engrossing. I got thru the first book without ever becoming interested enough to actually care if I finished the book or not. I got thru 80 pages of book 2 before I decided it just wasn't going to get any better and so it wasn't worth reading.

If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted witch story I recommend the Linda Wisdom series, starting with "50 Ways to Hex Your Lover".
If you want a more serious read with witches, vampires, demons and other magical creatures, I highly recommend Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series, which is excellent, starting with "Dead Witch Walking".
Also, Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series and Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series are must reads. -
Great humor, lacks in chemistry though.
I gave this book a chance because after reading something like High Stakes by Erin McCarthy, I thought these light, "chick lit" paranormal romances weren't that bad, and could be a great light read after potential heavy reads.

This one is slightly more darker, and with more action but not enough to take it away from the romance/chick lit genre. However what I really enjoyed the most out of this book was the humor. There was plenty of it. It's Garnet Lacey's wit that draws you to the story, and also makes you like her as a character. She's not your typical romantic heroine either, which also makes for her appeal. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments in the book -even coming from the bad guys in the novel as well.
The main story plot is pretty good and well written. The story arc with Garnet and the Vatican is very interesting. The romantic plot isn't too bad (mind you, I'm not one for romances so I am biased in this aspect of the book). Although I have to say, Garnet and Sebastian as a couple...it's a little off. I didn't find any chemistry between them, and didn't find them a great couple to begin with. Garnet and Parrish is the same way. Perhaps a little work is needed on giving the couples a little more chemistry to make the match more enjoyable to read, instead of just being together for the sake of having a main couple for the novel. I found it a little odd how Sebastian and Garnet instantly become an 'item' after a night..it baffles me still. Yet perhaps how my idea of how a couple should start off is much different than how the author pictured.
The story arc with Lilith is interesting and got me wanting to read further into this series I'm intrigued as to what is going to happen. Lilith has her own plans and this builds intrigue and mystery into the book which is enjoyable to read. There was one particular moment in the book where Garnet had to 'be on top' (get my meaning?) because of Lilith (if you are familiar with mythology and Lilith then you'll understand what I'm trying to get at). I thought that was so cheesy and silly it was enough for me to utter an awful comment or two out loud. It wasn't necessary and might probably induce a lot of eye rolling from readers who are well familiar with the Lilith myth.
Yet thanks to the humor, and Garnet as a character (whom I enjoyed reading very much) this was enough for me to carry on and enjoy the book. I recommend this book to those who feel like a light read, with a dark twist throughout. It's got humor, it's got romance, a little bit of action, and it's a nice blend to make the story fun to read, and also makes you want to know what's going to happen next. -
Great Book!

Garnet Lacey: Tall, Dark & Dead
I was a little skeptical of this book when I bought it. But after the first chapter, I was enthralled and just could not put it down. It's not exactly an original storyplot, but it has it's own flare and that is what grabs your attention and pulls you in.

Entertaining
This cute book is an easy read and entertaining. The plot starts strong but gets bogged down in nonsense. The characters are interesting but again become somewhat ridiculous. I did finish but only because I couldn't leave a book unfinished.

Not my favorite
I liked the Vegas Vampire series and the Sookie Stackhouse series much better. These characters didn't seem to have much depth. I wasn't wrapped up in the story.

Tall,Dark and Dead
I enjoyed this book as it was a departure from my normal reads. The characters were very intriguing. I did find the ending a little confusing but based on the sequel which I have yet to read, I known the heroine lives on.

Tall, Dark and Dead. I couldn't put it down!
This is a great book for those who like Vampire stories but want a break from all the gore and graphic sexual content. (I read the graphic ones too). There is some sexuality but I found the book to be a delightful read without being scary or too gross. The characters are great. I can't wait to read the second one in the series!

A bit different spin
After finishing the Vegas Vampire series (Erin McCarthy), I went looking for another series that would provide a quick, entertaining read. Tate Hallaway has created some very interesting characters indeed. From Garnet who is a Wiccan with a goddess sharing her body, to Sebastian who is a very special vampire (he works during the day), this story is both fantastic (supernatural fantasy) and entertaining. I didn't realize that there were more than 2 books, but was pleased to find that there are at least 2 others. Definitely not high brow reading (just consider the genre), but worth reading while relaxing on the beach!

A series with potential
This is a cute little story, but it was a quick read, with little substance, and was hard to get into. I loved the idea of the real Goth witch with hippie parents, supportive friends, and both a DEAD sexy boyfriend and ex-boyfriend. It was a rough start to a series with a lot of potential.
