Small town cop Grace Jordan is trying to build a solid life for her and her young daughter. She had overcome a horrific nightmare and came out stronger. Just a few short weeks on the job in Rockville, SD and young woman are being brutally murdered. This brings her town to the attention of the FBI and Special Agent Justin Reece.
FBI agent Justin Reece is back in his hometown to assist the local law in bringing down a serial killer. Justin's ex is the towns mayor and his kids are there as well. Besides doing his job he needs to keep his family safe. As a top field agent he is a plus for any investigation but his first look at Grace has more then his work skills perking up.
Grace and Justin work well together they both have excellent observation and work skills. Spending all their time together has their physical attraction exploding into an all consuming desire. When the killer's message is directed at Grace, Justin pulls out all the stops to protect her and those affected.
Tall, Dark and Deadly is exceptional. Its the first book that I have read by this author and I know it won't be the last. This book had well developed characters, tantalizing back stories and a terrifying killer. The sexual chemistry is some of the hottest around. This book is one that should not be overlooked.Show Less

OMG - DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!
Someone should be ashamed at the poor editing (or lack of) of this book. Did anyone proofread this book before it was published? This was the worst I have ever seen. Sometimes you could not even tell who was being referred to in the dialogue. I made myself read half of the book but I was so frustrated. I will only skim the rest to find out the answers I want. Also, the heroine was held prisoner as a sex slave for five years and we are supposed to believe she is hot for sex now? Too much of a stretch for me!

Tall, Dark and Deadly by Lorie O'Clare is a smoking hot story that is a must read for every romance reader.

Waste of money
If I am ever involved in a crime, I pray that these 2 characters are not sent to investigate. They are a joke. The plot lines were unbelievable as was the dialogue. The editing was terrible. I am not sure who Lora Leigh is but if this is "the best book" she has read all year, I feel sorry for her.

Don't miss this book!
I have to admit that being endorsed by Lora Leigh was the reason I picked this book up. Once I got home and read the previous review, I almost took the book back, but gave it a chance. I have to agree that whoever proofed the book, didn't to a very good job, but that didn't take away from the story or the characters. The plot was really good and kept you reading just to try to figure out who was behind the crimes. The characters were well developed and you wanted them to succeed as a couple. Through the whole book you were given a glimpse as to Grace's feelings and how Justine awaken something in her dispite her horrible experiences that made you believe that anyone can overcome tragedy. The sex is hot as well:) This book is well worth reading and certainly a great first novel for this author. (I don't count Cave books are real novels, sorry) I look forward to Ms. O'Clare's next novel.

I enjoy this book
Thank god I did not read the reviews for this book (I would have not bought it). I went in looking for a different book, it was out of stock. So I some how came across this book and decided to purchase it. I prayed it would be a great book, since I was going to Costa Rica for a week and needing some good reading material.
I have to say this book was fantastic! Sure the writer didn't elaborate on the crime scenes or on the researching, but I enjoyed that the story really focused on the romance and the obstacles both characters encounter...which makes them more emotionally real. The only issue I really have is at one point Grace is being held during the final chapters and for her being a cop she really didn't fight back or fight well at all. Maybe the writer should have made it clear that she was emotionally attacked and fell paralyzed mentally on her attacker. But a good read and entertaining story.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

A dark police procedural
Ten years ago Grace Jordan fled from her life as a sex slave after completing a five-year brutal sentence to her abusive Master Rick by setting him on fire before he could kill her infant Rachel and ultimately her. Grace's sudden surge of courage comes from a mother's instinct to protect her child from a predator. Finally with her daughter to raise as a single mom, Grace becomes a police officer in Rockville, South Dakota so her child can grow up in a safe environment.
However, her dream of Rockville being safe turns false when someone assaults and kills young women. FBI agent Justin Reece is sent in to help the locals with apprehending the serial killer before others die. Grace and Justin team up on the investigation, but someone who knows of her captivity is sending her messages that she fears target her daughter as well as herself. To keep Rachel safe, Grace knows she must trust Justin, but she distrusts all males as men believe women are sluts or wives or so she thinks.
This dark police procedural opens with drying a washed T-shirt setting the stage of the dark grim world of Lorie O'Clare. Grace is incredible from the onset as an abused sex slave knowing her Master will kill her, but accepting her fate until she concludes he will also kill Rachel; she brings the light of hope in this extremely ugly and dangerous land even a small town in the Badlands with a minor crime history. Justin has seen the evil men do live on long after they are interred through the survivors like Grace who he is falling in love with. A great surprising final marital twist enhances a dark and deadly thriller.

OK
A very good story spoiled by too many references to the sexual attraction between the two main characters. One gets it that they are sexually attracted and it is an interesting aspect, but it is repeated over and over to the point it distracts from the content of an otherwise interesting novel.

A few weak spots but good
It took a while to really get into the plot, but then it is a good story. You do become invested in Grace and Justin, their feelings for each other and the steamy sex. The stories of their pasts is well written and helps us see why they are who they are in the story. At the end, it felt like a few things came to an abrupt conclusion, almost as if the author was limited on her allowed words, so she had to write it that way. I understand this is the first book in a series of books dealing with Grace and Justin. I am definitely interested in reading the next.

First Lorie O'Clare, but can't wait for the next one......!!!!
This was a first for her in my library but it was fabulous. I read for the utter pleasure of it and pleasure is what I got from this book! Her man is deadly and sexy, and her woman is an equal match! Hated for it to end. Can't wait for the next one. It will be here soon!!!
