An Amazing Book
What can I say about Derek Lin that isn't already know or attributed to him. He is a Taoist in faith and practice but he is also a mentor to thousands of others who are on the path and seek guidance on The Way. I haven't read one book of Mr. Lin's that I haven't liked, immensely. Being American usually opens many doors and access to many things in life. However, being American is usually a hindrance when trying to learn the ways if the east. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. We all have our own reason and way of coming to Taoism. For me it seems so right and so natural. But, finding guidance, mentoring, or information in english is a challenge indeed. And just as their are so many denominations in the Christian faith with so many translations of the Bible that it is hard to find truth in that environment. The same exists in most other religions and philosophies. Each containing many translations which lead to many more interpretations, which invariably lead to even more conflicts.
I say all that to say this: Derek Lin cuts through the mess and gives you the meat of Taoism. Mr. Lin may not appreciate that analogy, being vegetarian but basically we are all looking for a mentor we can trust. Derek Lin is that person. His integrity in both his translations and in books like this one that teaches you principles which are the foundation of Taoism are impeccable. I whole heartedly recommend this book for the lessons it teaches and any other book that Derek Lin has published.
