    I Also Recommend:

    The Taste is Bland.

I suppose I was expecting something a bit different out of this book. While not completely boring it was a bit bland. Nor was it as broad in scope as I had anticipated.

From Venice, to Portugal and then the Netherlands. Each countries contribution to the spice trade is well recorded. However I was hoping for a much bigger picture. Perhaps a look at China, India and Africa and their roles as well.

All in all I did gain a greater insight into the early European spice trading empires and how they influenced history and in some ways the way we eat today.
