So I have to admit even though Rachel is one of my favorite authors I drug my feet in reading Tear...I am just not a fan of contemporary novels so I figured this would be one of those "I am reading this book just cause I like the author" books and I would nicely say this was a good book for its genre and that would be it...I was SO very wrong...If more contemporary books were written like this one I would change my favorite genre in an instant. I have no clue as to why I thought I would not like this book...ANYWAYS Natalee is like most teenagers (or people in general) insecure about her looks and pretty much bored with her mundane life...Then in this little sleepy town of Seaside, Oregon comes 2 new students who happen to be anything but ordinary...Hot Rock band AD2 (who also happen to be brothers) take time off of touring for some much needed R & R (or that is the cover story at least) and both of the brothers take an interest in Natalee. Now she is left to choose between Demetri (all sunshine) or Alec (the brooding one), but how can she choose when she loves both of them? And what happens when their past and the real reason they are in Seaside is revealed? Will she be able to accept their past and create a new future or will it be too much destroy them all? This 1st book in Rachel's Adult Contemporary series is a must read!

I like romance novels, but mostly historical or regency ones. I've never really been a fan of modern-day romances. Not sure why, they just haven't really appealed to me, and the ones that I have read were severely disappointing. But, I've loved the regency romances Rachel Van Dyken has written, so when I read all the good reviews about Tear I figured, why not?
OH MY GOSH. I read the entire thing in about five hours. At work. I did nothing but read. I couldn't put it down. I laughed. I cried. I yelled at pretty much everyone in the book. And let me tell you, I do not do that with every book I read, only the good ones.
The story is one you've seen before, only with a pretty awesome twist, one that I didn't see coming (remember how I yelled at the characters? There was a lot of yelling going on when the twist was revealed). It's basically this: Girl meets boys. Girls falls in love with boys. Girl has to make a choice. And that's when it all gets really real. It's not just fluff and no substance. There is some really deep stuff in here, and it was nice to see substance in a romance for a change. I LOVED this book!1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Torn between two rock star brothers--need I say more? They have serious issues which Natalee can only guess at until she learns more about them. Who will she choose? Who is right for her?

This book is amazing. It keeps you guessing the outcome until the end. It is well worth the read and then you will want to read it again! Teaching school I have read some of the YA books that students are allowed to read. Believe me that this is a better option than most YA out there. If you are looking for something that older YA and adult can both enjoy, I highly recommend this book. The characters in this book will draw you in and leave you breathless. The book makes you want more, and Rachel Van Dyken always delivers!

Rachel Van Dyken is a wonderful and talented author. Tear has been my second experience at reading this authors works, and it was just as impressive as the first. She knows how to create a story that will absorb you into its pages, and captivate readers with it intensity and suspense. Tear was just that type of read. Natalee is a young beautiful woman; witty and quick that will keep you on your toes. I loved every minute of following her character, and was anxious to see her find her every happiness. This young woman was just peddling through life until the unexpected appearance of two very beautiful yet very mysterious young men. While Natalee efforts of avoiding both new comers proves fruitless; little did she expect them to change her life forever. This is a story of secrets, loyalty, and love. Every minute will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page, and leave you a fan anxious to start book two. I can not wait for more of these series. While I was happy with the ending it is imperative that I see both brothers find their Happy Ending. ~BookWhisperer Reviewer JO~

The storyline was good but it was hard to see the love between the teenagers blossom. It felt like one minute they just met each other andthe next thing i kniw theyre already professung their love. It just didnt seem real to me

I got really sucked in form the beginning. The story is quite fun, and the characters are unique. I definitely liked the contrast between the brothers Alec and Demetri. As I read the book I was pulled into the confusion that Nat carried with her about the boys. They definitely had the secrets and odd hints to some sordid past seeping through them. However, while reading, I did feel that some of the story line was a little, I guess you would say, uncomfortable. In the very beginning of the book it was so obvious that Nat was into Alec more so than she was into Demetri. Even though both brothers were attractive, Nat always felt more drawn to Alec so the relationship that she ended up becoming involved in with Demetri was a little odd. Another bit of confusion was the several parts about the tattoos that each boy had. I understand the connection in the end but while reading I guess i was looking for something a little more out of that part of the story. I don't see it as being realistic that they would get the same tattoo based off of one brother cheating with the other's girlfriend, getting her pregnant, turning into a drug addict and then both the girl and son dying in a tragic car crash. I see that as being something that would mean something completely different to each brother. Another thing that really confused me, and I actually went back to verify my memory, on page 64 of the book Nat was in Alec's room after the dance and they were talking about his tattoo and Alec was telling her how he had a one night stand and the girl got pregnant and then she and the boy died in a car accident. Nat asks the boy's name and Alec tells her it was Benjamin. THEN on page 156, Nat and Alec are discussing the true facts of the child and the brother's past and he is telling her about the crash that killed the child and his mother. There he states that the girl went to pick up Gabe, not Benjamin, and that is the time they got into a head on collision and died. Also, it the beginning of the book it stated how strict Natalee's parents were and they would not even let her wear makeup, but then later in the story she is sleeping over at her friend's house, wearing makeup, etc. Which threw me off a bit. I hold on to small details well while reading a story and I picked up on this pretty quickly. Besides those things, the story read really well, held my attention, and I truly felt Nat's angst, confusion, desire, and pain throughout the story. I am sure that if ANYTHING like this happened to a teenager in real life these feelings would be quite similar! Thank you for the fun read!!
