Truly touching!

I enjoyed reading this story. Zeke and Sheila's story was good, with a cute baby, and blackmail thrown into the plot made a enjoyable reading rxperience.

Dear God in heaven, this was a terrible book. Period. When I saw that it had an average of 4 stars with 110 ratings, I thought, "Well gosh, I don't read many romance novels, and I'm not sure I've ever read a Harlequin novel, but it is free and so I should try it and see if I like it." Case solved: I didn't like it at all. At one point, the main character actually had "quivering thighs." Gag! C'mon people, could you get any more "purple prose" than that? And the plotline...it made NO SENSE.
SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read the story and do not wish to see its plotline ruined (bwahahaha - too late!) then don't read the rest of this review. :)
But there is some conspiracy to get Brad's brother, Michael, drunk and high on drugs so he wouldn't notice that he was having sex with this skank, a skank who was being paid to seduce him. Then the drug dealer (who was orchestrating the whole thing) could blackmail Michael with this baby. First off, drug dealers have enough on their plate in terms of protecting their territory and making sure their drugs come in regularly - they are not into blackmailing high society.
Second, the book never makes it clear why, after the skank got prego with Michael's baby, that the drug dealer suddenly decides to off Michael, but that's just what they do, and they make it look like an accident. In so many ways, this is a retarded plan - what would have happened if the skank lost the baby for whatever reason? Then they would have nothing for all of their efforts. It's not like the skank was going in for regular medical check-ups, I'm sure.
But for whatever reason, the drug dealer decided that Michael has to die, and so they kill him. Then the skank has the baby, hangs onto it for five months (again, why? Why not just put their evil plan in place as soon as the baby was born?) and then the skank drops the baby off at the the Catteman's Club with a note that the baby is Brad's. Of course, Brad says it isn't, but the paternity test proves that the baby is somehow related to Brad.
The drug dealer is trying to blackmail Brad with this baby, but never does he put any sort of plan into place to actually receive money for this blackmail - he simply leaves notes about how he's going to blackmail Brad. The whole thing is just retarded. The drug dealer has to be THE WORST criminal on the face of the planet.
Oh, and at one point, they're looking at the security footage of the drop off of the baby and all they can see is the hand of the person who did it. They say something about how the person doing it must have insider knowledge of the security cameras of the club. Later, when it is revealed who did it, nothing is ever explained about how on earth this skank and this drug dealer knew anything about the security cameras of the club.
I feel dumber for having read this book, as if it somehow sucked my brain cells out of my head. I cannot more strongly recommend that all copies of this book be set on fire, and for the world to never speak of it again.
But that's just my ever so humble opinion.

    A FAST READ

THIS BOOK KEPT MY INTEREST. IT IS AN EASY READ THAT GETS BETTER AS THE BOOK MOVES ALONG. THIS ROMANTIC STORY IS ABOUT AN ABANDONED BABY AND THE WOMAN WHO TAKES CARE OF HER. IN THE MEANWHILE, SHE FINDS LOVE WITH THE MAN WHO IS DETERMINED TO FIND THE PERSON WHO LEFT THE BABY BEHIND.

Ok...I can relate to the good and the bad reviews. It was a quick and easy read...the plot was unbelievable and you had to suspend all your common sense or inquisitive nature to enjoy the book. There were several sex scenes which it appears I should be thankful that I skipped over. There was also so a sweet herione and a 'good guy' falling in love when they least expect it and that was the aspect of the book that was enjoyable. I think all the raters of 3 stars and up would like to think there were truly men like Zeke in the world and wouldnt mind meeting them.

    Average summer read

This is a typical romance novel but does have a slight twist to it that made it interesting. A quick read great for poolside or driving on a trip.

    a short, happy read

135 pages, a decent length for a quick read. if you're looking for a "happily ever after" story, this one is for you.

    A good story

I am in the middel of this mystery - enjoying it and hope to finish shortly. As a good mystery should, it is keeping my attention focused on solving the crimes within.

    okay but not great

The two main characters were far too alike to be particularly opposed or interesting. A few formatting issues and a predictable plot.

    Pretty Good.

I've never read this author and thought for free what the heck. The cover was a little misleading. Nothing about cowboys riding horses...but much better. :)

    Okay

This story was somewhat predictable although a decent read. I would have liked it better if the author had built on the "mystery" aspect of the plot more. The ending seemed a bit rushed (with details) rather than developed.

okay - pretty unrealistic story line.

I do not fault Brenda Jackson as a writer, she is talented. However, it is a shame when you feel the need to base your characters' relationships on vivid descriptions of intimate acts. These acts in books from the Desire collection are the beginning stages of the relationships...one, two, 7 days after meeting. While I know the Desire collection is built on such explicit scenes, it seems to be the only thing Desire characters have in common. When I got this book as a Friday Freebie, I did not know it was a Desire romance. If you want more character development, check out Harlequins Inspired collection or Inspired Intrigue collection. Since these books are Christian based (but not preachy), the characters and story lines are more in depth and interesting.

    A Bit Predictable

I'm not a fair one to consult regarding romance novels so take my opinion with a grain of salt. It was a quick read, pretty predictable and somewhat entertaining. It just seemed like you could switch characters and occupations to make any story you'd like.

    OK

My first read by Brenda Jackson. Read it in one afternoon because it was an easy read. Happy ending. Story line easy to follow because I could tell what would happen next.

    Easy read

This was a good story, seemed a little rushed though. There was a build up but it at the end it wrapped up too quickly.
