Read an Excerpt

"I walked a high-voltage tightrope as I balanced the boys' adventure-filled childhood—-one I had only dreamed about living—-with my concern for their safety. Utimately, it would have been safer to stay at home and play video games. But we lived in Alaska for a more soul-filled existance....And so I walked that tightrope one step at a time, hoping I would not fall or fail them."
