This is a fabulous history of Texas in anecdotes and pictures. It includes all the lore and nitty-gritty politically incorrect details that sifted through the cracks in the history books.
It should probably have been called The Real History of Texas, Recipes Included. I suspect the cookbook aspect was emphasized by the publisher because of the well known fact that only cookbooks and how-to books sell well in hard times. Not meaning to detract from the recipes--they're great too and a significant part of the history and lore.
This is a must-have for Texas fans. I gave my copy to a Texan friend and am about to order myself another.
