Pick this one up if you're looking for a light, easy read for small children. The bright, flat illustrations have a cartoonish feel. Sent to the store for whipped cream, a little girl takes a walk through her neighborhood. Along the way, she expresses simply thanks for the things she sees around her. "Thank you, park. Thank you, warm boots. Thank you, fluffy clouds." The repetition and simplicity of the phrases and will appeal to a young audience.

So-So book for teaching about thankfulness

My 19 mos old daughter insisted on this book in a book store. Yes the language is simple, but almost too simple. The "thank you, warm boots" type text is very confusing. Are we expressing thanks to inanimate objects? Since she loved the book, I simply ad lib the text, saying "Thank you God for.... ". This makes sense for most of the pages, as does just explaining or having your child identify what is happening on each page. Read the book first and figure out how you are going to read it to your child. If you child is reading or trying to follow text, don't buy this book

Definitely one of those books where the desire to be secular, pc, and nonoffensive really botches the text.

    Pefect for Little Pilgrims

I bought this Thanksgiving book for my 2 year old son last year. I just got it out of our Thanksgiving decorations box this morning and he was so excited to see it and read it again. This author does a fantastic job of explaining what Thanksgiving is all about to little children and adults alike. It's about being thankful for all the little things that can so easily be taken for granted. Excellent book. I plan on buying this for my friends children this year.
