I hesitate to write a review for a book that will certainly upset everyone today.  Conservatives will object because Bush is criticized.  Liberals will revolt because Democrats are criticized.  No one will enjoy reading what the author says BUT---
this said, it is one of the clearest explanations of the problems facing not just the US but the entire planet.  It is written in easy to understand terms and the author walks you through each step of the problem as it has unfolded to date.  His forecast is also, in my opinion, spot on.
A great book for anyone not afraid of reading "outside the box" to better understand today's issues.

Terrific assessment of the macro-level problems facing the developed world. Alpert presents a clear examination of why certain economic and monetary policies have and will continue to fail, while presenting some well-researched evidence in support of alternate solutions. A smart, enlightening read sure to provoke much thought.
