The Assassin's Curse is a satisfying novella to read while waiti

The Assassin's Curse is a satisfying novella to read while waiting for the release of the fourth Emperor's Edge novel. The third novel, Deadly Games, ratcheted up my excitement over the characters and their changing relationships.

This isn't considered YA fiction, but I recently stumbled upon Lindsay Buroker and fell in love with The Emperor's Edge. So far there are three novels and a couple of short stories that focus on specific characters. The Assassin's Curse focuses on Amaranthe, the leader of the Emperor's Edge, and Sicarius, the deadly assassin looking for exoneration. I won't say much about their role in the series but their latest adventure establishes them as the main attraction of the Emperor's Edge.

I still say those two have chemistry even though it's hard to see. I love how in any situation Amaranthe and her team gets into they always learn something new about each other. Each mission solidifies their resolve and loyalty to one another.

I'm definitely ready to get on with the series and read the fourth novel!

    Great short

Amaranthe and Sicarius are the only two from The Emperor's Edge that are in this short that should fit in between books 2 & 3. Just like the other stories from this author, it's fast paced and impossible to put down. It also gives us another look at the growing connection between the two main characters.

Loved the latest installment of Amaranthe and Sicarius

Love these books - the story is a series so you need to read "The Emperor's Edge" first. That being said, the story is a serial about two main characters that cover several books and short stories. Amaranthe starts as a law enforcement officer is set up for a crime, combines forces with an assassin, Sicarius, to protect the Emperor and becomes a wanted criminal. The story is entertaining and solid, the characters interesting (and NO teen angst). Set in steampunk genre of a Victorian-ish time period with outlawed magic. I also like the fact that I can follow my favorite characters over several books (stories). Some books set up different characters half way through the book to sell you on their next book. With this serial book I can enjoy the stories of the great characters over many adventures - awesome!
