    Disappointed WWII buff

As a WWII buff, I thought this would be an interesting read. Expected it to be more of a movie in book form. This is not that by any stretch of the imagination. I would not recommend this to anyone other than maybe someone doing a doctoral thesis on the battle.

    decisiedve battle at sea-leyte gulf

this was a very well written book telling about this epic battle at sea. the japanese knew where the americans were and they felt that they could put a crippling blow on the american naval forces. the janpanese split there forces hoping to catch the americans off guard. part of the american forces had withdrawn to try to pull the japanese forces away from the phillipines. in the southern part of leyte gulf the japs caught the americans and in this battle had to withdraw due to losses. the force that came from the north had the americans outnumbered and a capt on a small destroyer decided to attack the japs and this lead tp tje loss of a number a ships on both sides. when the main american force arrived the battle ensued and the japs were thoroughly defeated. this was the last great naval battle of the war. the author puts a touching light on the men who were involved in this great battle.
