Brilliant as usual
It's a complete shame that Blur aren't more famous in the United States. They managed to simultaneously create the Britpop movement and transcend it, and if you're unfamiliar with their music, this is a pretty great place to start. This disc is compiled slightly strangely, with later tracks like 'Beetlebum' and 'Song 2' at the very beginning and earlier tracks like 'Country House' and 'Girls and Boys' nearer the end. It doesn't matter. Every song is brilliant in its own way, and also completely unique. Listening to the Beatles-evoking 'Charmless Man', with its supremely catchy "na-na-na-na-na-na-na" refrain, you wouldn't think it was written by the same band who created the gorgeous, complex melodies and melancholy tone of 'This is a Low'. But it is. And that's the beauty of Blur. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
