A terrific collection of Joe R. Lansdale’s dark novellas and shorts. It’s difficult to go wrong with Godzilla’s Twelve-Step Program, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Big Blow, and Incident On and Off a Mountain Road. Each is unique in its mind-bending style, so any collection with them has to be five stars. Of course, some of the other tales aren’t quite up to par with these gems, but all are fun in their own pulpy way. If you enjoy Lansdale’s twisted storytelling, this collection is a must-read.

    Awesome

Besides a kind of pointless rambling introduction by lansdale himself this is a great collection of his best short stories including probable the three best he ever wrote "bubba ho tep" "incident off and on a mountain road" and "godzilla and the twelve step program".

    Genius.

It was the movie 'Bubba-Hotep' that had peaked my Landsdale interest. If your looking for entertaining and off the wall stories, this was written for you. Where else can you read about a senior Elvis Presley and JFK battle a mummy at a nursing home? Or movie monster Godzilla trying to complete a 12 step program while fighting urges to destroy cities?
