Great translation of a must-read text

Easy to read translation and helpful introduction. If you are new to the Gita, this is the way to go.

    more from this reviewer

    Bhagavad-Gita

I picked this up because it is one of the essential texts of Hindu culture and I enjoy learning the history of culture and religions. This particular text is a series of conversations between the Arjuna (a warrior/prince) and the god Krishna. There are some interesting sections on what is the basis of action is and how we should approach it mentally and overcome our physical desires.

I don't like to rate books that can be viewed as religious texts, so I give them all 3 stars as a rule.

    3/5

    No doubt a classic

I found the gita to be an enlighten read. It is written with timesless beauty and presents a profoundly dualistic view piont of observance of duty and the revolving world. The Gita has found it's way in my the list of my top ten favorite books inwhich i have read. I now understand how it managed to captivated so many minds thoughout history.

    Inspiring

The Bhagavad Gita shares insights into the nature of the soul. It is a blueprint into the psyche and soul revealing how dualism creates such dissonance that unity is longed for until obtained. This book will guide you on your path to enlightenment.
