Flawed But Fascinating
These early demos provide an absorbing look at the young Bob Dylan developing his songwriting skills. Just be aware that sound quality varies widely. Most of the tracks are well recorded but a few sound as if Bob and the mike were about 20 feet apart. Disc 1 is mostly Dylan and guitar but the second disc adds harmonica and features him playing piano on a few cuts. I found it interesting that Dylan plays guitar with more force here than on the polished final studio versions. This is of great value as long as you understand it consists of tapes never meant for commercial release.
