Faith in god while assisting son charged with felony murder
The entire title of this moving book is "The Bridge Between 'Cell Block A' and a 'Miracle' is Psalm 91. Jackie's faith is very evident throughout the book. Everyone should share her faith in God, not just those having deep problems, but those that care about their fellow humans. Jackie's son, Richard Jason Veitch, had a small construction business in a small town in Georgia. Jason is married to Stephanie and they have a seven-year old son. Jason has been having copper stolen from his construction site. He was told by a deputy to hide nearby and try to catch the culprit in action. Jason hid in the nearby woods and waited. After some time, a truck came by, left, then came back again and someone from the truck headed for the house. Jason confronted this person right after he had called 911. He held the gun on all three of those that had been in the truck, but as he tried to bind one of them, his gun went off and killed the culprit.
When the police arrived, they questioned Jason and the ones from the truck. Jason felt terrible having accidentally killed one of the thieves but did not expect what came next. The police took him in and he was eventually charged with felony murder. What follows was a real travesty of justice with all of Jason's family and friends supporting him 100%. After a few days he was released on bond but the fight to true freedom and getting a not guilty judgment for him lingered on.
Jason's mother, Jackie, was stunned, shocked, and very shaken knowing her son could never knowingly kill any human. Jackie turned to God and in particular the book of Psalms, the 91st Psalm in particular. No matter how bad things got she had the faith that her son would be freed as the love of God that she so ably showed and thought constantly would endure.
As a reader of this true story you will cringe, wonder, worry, but if you are a believer, you will always keep God's love and faith in your mind and body. I will not give the ending parts of Jason's story. The book is easy to read but it exudes faith throughout and you will gain that while reading.
