I've read many of Stephanie Osborn's books, and I have to say this is one of her best. It also happens to be one of the best Sherlock Holmes stories written by anyone other than Arthur Conan Doyle, himself. I can't praise this series highly enough. This is a fun read!

When I read this book I got excited. Most of my exposure to Sherlock Holmes included Robert Downey, Jr. I'm a hardcore military SF junky, so I was a tad bit skeptical when I purchased this work. But, I immediately fell in love with it. I had a lot of fun reading this work of art. Stephanie can be sure that I'll be reading more of her books soon enough.

    Fun fun fun!

I wasn't sure about the premis behind this book before I started reading. I mean, Sherlock (yes I've read Doyle's work and love his stories) meets modern sci-fi (I'm a Bradbury fan)?! Did I mention I like a little romance to? Ms. Osborn blends these genres well, creating a thoroughly believable world/situation. The upshot is that if you're a purist about any of these genres you might feel like other things are encroaching, but if you read widely and enjoy a roaring good tale with a little of everything - this story is fun, fun, fun! The only drawback is that it leaves you hanging for the next book... which I just bought without hesitation. Worth the cost.

This was one of the first books by Ms. Osborn I read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The combination of sci-fi and mystery with a touch of romance was the hook that drew me in and kept me reading. You can't go wrong by reading the first book of this series, and then you should go on and read the other three. They are that good!

I haven't read anything other than a technical manual in over 11 years. Then I came across the Displaced Detective Series of books and was intrigued. I have read the first two and love them! I recommend them to anyone who wants a good read, even if you are not a Sherlock Holmes fan - you will love these books. And if you are a Sherlock Holmes fan, you will love them more!

The Case of the Displaced Detective: The Arrival by Stephanie Os

The Case of the Displaced Detective: The Arrival by Stephanie Osborn is terrific.  I was a bit overwhelmed at the beginning by the physics and science, but once Holmes came into the picture and everyone began explaining things to him, I was able to keep up.  I enjoyed the emotional connections that formed as well, but oooooo the cliff hanger!  I am so glad I have the first four and can get right into the next episode.  Such an enjoyable, fun book that jumped through all the hoops.  Drama, suspense, time travel, the works.  A definite must read.

I enjoy reading, generally. There are a few books I flat out refused to finish, but I pride myself on finishing most books. I'm not sure what I expected from this book at first, but I was amazed at how easily I was drawn into it. I started out just checking the free section, the "take a look inside" part. Well, that wasn't just bait! From the moment it stopped I was pacing... I mean, I HAD to know what happens next! So I whipped out my card and I picked it up. Well... It was worth it! I wanted more, and I was getting a little sad that I couldn't have it... But there IS more to it! I am quite pleased with this series so far and I WILL own them all. Thank you, Stephanie Osborn, for an excellent series!
