Reviewed by Martina Svyantek for Readers' Favorite

“The Chalice” by P. L. Parker is a science fiction book where males from an alien species choose women from Earth to help them continue their race. With no females of their own to donate genetic material to the cause, they search throughout the universe in order to find a compatible group to pair up with in order to mate. However, this is not some sleezy romance story sans plot; the story line is actually well-planned out and explores interesting dynamics between the main characters.

I was very impressed with just how FUNNY this book was; usually, sci-fi takes itself so seriously. “The Chalice,” on the other hand, takes a tongue in cheek look at exactly how a group of kidnapped women would react upon finding out that they have been chosen as the mates for the last remaining males of a dying alien species. Think about it – if you were on either side of the equation, what would be running through your head in the best-case scenario? The human women in this story were strong-willed and defiant in the face of what they thought to be their fate. The alien Chaigan-Se men tried their best to woo the ladies who were ready to attack if they got too close. “The Chalice” was one of the most down-to-earth science fiction/fantasy pieces that I have read in a long time. The characters were exceptionally well-developed, and I cannot wait to see where this story takes the author – hopefully to a sequel!

I say it could be better.

An intresting story line, wish autor would've made the ending more final, rather then leaveing for the story to cary on.
