This book, along with a support group, is the best thing you can

This book, along with a support group, is the best thing you can ever do for yourself if you have COPD. I was diagnosed over nine years ago and found this book not long ago. It changed my attitude about living with this disease. It is scary to know that you have a disease for which there is no cure but when you read about all the aspects of it and how to handle it as Mr. Martin has, you will really feel better about things and know that when you know what to do to stay as healthy as you can, you can live a pretty much normal life.
This really is the book to read, have your family read and keep by your side. It is full of information, ideas, humor and just good living. Enjoy!

    Thank You to the Author

I do not suffer from Emphysema but I am a caretaker for my wife who has Emphysema. It's a terrible disease and to see a loved one suffer from it is heartbreaking. My friend's wife bought a book called The Complete Guide to Understanding and living With COPD. It was like opening a trunk full of gold.........the information was very helpful to me. I thought by taking care of someone you learn everything there is.......wrong.....I found so many new ways to be helpful I was amazed. I then gave it to my wife and asked her to read it. She did and was just as amazed as I was.
We both thank the author for a book that is helping us daily and a special thanks to my friend's wife.....without her buying the book we wouldn't have had this great opportunity to learn more about this disease and how to handle it.

Should be a Coffee Table Reference Book

An all encompassing coverage of COPD written in laymans' language for those of us who are living with this disease. The operative word is "living." I read it from cover to cover and have referred to it often. Wish I had had this when first diagnosed. Kudos to Richie Martin.

The Complete Guide to Understanding and Living with COPD

We finally have a book that deals with the reality of what it is like to live with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on a daily basis. The author has given us detailed and succinct information that would take years of experience to learn. The information in his book could not possibly be covered by our physicians or Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs. This work is so important! It teaches us how to utilize each breath we have for our maximum benefit in daily living..I believe that anyone who has a person in their life with COPD would benefit enormously from this book. Each day is different with each of us in how we feel and why we might feel that way, this book addresses this masterfully..COPD is a life changing disease from the onset..this guide gives us the ability to transpose the fears we might have into positive ,productive ,daily rewards. As I was reading this,I thought to myself "finally, someone can relate and I am not alone"..

    Entertaining and informative

I know entertaining is not a usual adjective for a self-help book but it fits. Even though I have always hated self help books, I was hooked from the first page. It is a must have for anyone who has or is a caregiver of someone with COPD, and will be the best money you will ever spend. I truly believe it should be a gift given to every new patient by their Dr when diagnosed. I promise no one would object to having the price added to their bill.
