    fixing instead of tricking

This was a great read. Personally I hate diets that are all about “tricking” your body into losing fat by doing something that sounds downright unhealthy. This diet is different though. It begins with an explanation of the medical trials that lead to the discovery of the diet’s numerous health benefits, including reducing hypertension. After that the book is broken up into sections with tips and guidelines for changing your lifestyle, how to start a workout program, as well as a whole BUNCH of yummy sounding recipes. Great value!

    DASH for Health

The DASH diet started as a diet for health, to reduce blood pressure and risk for diabetes. It was rated by US News – World Report as the best diet for combating type 2 diabetes. It focuses on adding healthy fats and low-sodium foods into the diet and includes high amounts of vitamin C, which reduce stress and fat storage in the body. The diet also cuts out prepared and processed food, focuses on eating smaller portion sizes, and introduces appropriate exercise. The book includes a long list of tips for success, which is helps readers stick to the plan long term. The included menus are healthy, but they have a great serving size chart to guide readers. The author also includes an extensive and helpful "allowed food" lists, shopping lists, recipes for every taste, and dozens of menu plans.

    DASH for Heart Health

The DASH diet can certainly help you lose weight - it wouldn't be much of a diet otherwise - but its focus is on decreased risk of diabetes, general heart health and lowering blood pressure. That's in the name: DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. This isn't some radical new diet, but rather one based on a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) study from the 90s that is finally getting the recognition that it deserves.

I won't lie and tell you that this is an easy diet. It takes a bit to get started, including a bit of math homework to determine your Body Mass Index and a few other vital statistics, and when I saw that butter was nixed from the menu I nearly cried. For the sake of my heart, however, I suppose I can crunch a few numbers, while Chatham's meal plans and recipes allow for some delicious dishes, ranging from the simple to the extravagant to fit any schedule. He even sneaks in a few cheats - because he understands that we all need to indulge from time to time!

My father was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and once I learned the DASH diet was rated number one for combating the disease, I’ve been searching for the right book to introduce to my dad. Chatham’s is the best resource I’ve found, so far. You are instructed how to slowly ease into the diet, using the tools included, like worksheets, reference tables, food guides, menu planners, and of course, plenty of recipes. It’s informative, providing plenty of background information on how the DASH diet was created and tested, and also stresses the importance of exercise and fitness, including fitness plan. Most important, to me and my dad, is that Chatham’s book is really reader friendly and easy to follow.

The latest food plan to achieve the John Chatham stamp of approv

The latest food plan to achieve the John Chatham stamp of approval is the National Institute of Health’s DASH diet. Designed with hypertension in mind, (DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), this summation is a straightforward wealth of valuable information that will teach you to stop focusing on the lbs and, instead, zero in on your body mass while learning more about your metabolism. Is it a cinch? No – but no *real* diet is going to be. Five chapters of delicious sounding, low-sodium, low-fat and high-fiber recipes make a good case for positive change; along the way, you’ll learn what real, unprocessed food tastes like.

    An Educational Read!

The DASH Diet Health Plan will definitely help you lose the weight you have wanted to lose! This book comes with everything you could want with a book about diets; it’s got a list of sample menus for fourteen days and even a sheet to help you figure out your Body Mass Index. And with this plan, the book gives you a list of the foods you can still have, including dark chocolate and your favorite vegetables!. The recipes are also enjoyable and I’d recommend everyone try them whether for diet or not!

John Chatham’s edifying manuscript is on how to stop hypertension with the help of a 14-day meal plan, and a 28-day workout plan. A cookbook you can trust, since its been proven effective in balancing hypertension weight loss by the National Institutes of Health. Eggs benedict, breakfast hash and red wine poached pears are on my list of must have’s! The author did a terrific job.

I love to cook, and these recipes are all super simple and tasty

I love to cook, and these recipes are all super simple and tasty.  So far I’ve made almost all of the breakfasts, (the breakfast hash and the eggs Benedict are my favorites). The seafood and chicken dinners that I’ve tried have been really good. The DASH plan was created to be safe and effective for people with diabetes and heart disease. It’s not a dramatic diet type of plan like South beach where you cut out all the carbs. I like it a lot because it is in line with common sense eating and stuff you would normally want to eat. There is a guide here about how to calculate your metabolic rate, and your body mass index. I have never seen those formulas before; they are really helpful.

I've actually done more harm than good to myself while trying to lost weight with various diets, so I'm extra skeptical about the fads that come along. I do, however, want to take advantage of the latest research and resources for healthy eating plans. The DASH Diet was developed along with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and endorsed by the National Institutes of Health, so I felt safe staying on it for two months. Plus, it was easy to follow, so I haven't stopped following its guidelines yet! I plan on making it a lifestyle. My

Chatham¿s new book details how to battle and control high blood

Chatham’s new book details how to battle and control high blood pressure, or anyone genetically susceptible to it. The “DASH” (which stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet itself offers very simple workouts that only take 30 minutes a day, as well as some amazing foods that will amaze anyone who shudders at the term “diet.” Excellent for anyone who needs a permanent lifestyle change, and not just a “quick fix.”

Chatham brings in the facts, tables, and real recipes so that people at any stage in their life can implement. I started reading this and thought of family and friends that are suffering with diabetes, and upon finishing it, I posted some tips on Facebook.
This is a must-read for families and individuals that are especially dealing with diabetes and not only how to
manage it, but holistically take care of yourself through a fitness plan, and with what you eat.
The Dash Diet has research to back up it's claims. I hope that if you stumble upon this review - you take it to
heart and read it. It was a simple read, direct and to the point, and as soon as you finish it you can implement it.

This diet is great for a long term lifestyle change. The grocery list they give you is super helpful, as are the menu suggestions and tips. Dieting is difficult, and changing daily habits can feel impossible without the right motivation. This book gives extremely helpful tools for anyone looking to make a diet change, especially someone looking to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, or obesity—or for that matter, anyone who already has those problems and wants to get rid of them. The DASH diet was developed through highly respected medical research facilities, like Johns Hopkins University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and backed by the American Heart Association (among others). It’s a great plan for anyone to get heart healthy, learn to eat right, and develop healthier habits.

Using medical research and healthy common sense, The Dash Diet Health Plan is sure to help many people not only lower blood pressure, but also lose weight. This book includes a description of the eating plan and menu along with an exercise program and a generous recipe section. This is a plan with the kind of straight-forward approach that even the most reluctant of dieters could follow.

My favorite part about John Chatham's guide is just how many options he gives. He includes five chapters of recipes, tons of recommended foods to buy, a long list of recommended workouts, and even variations on the plan itself so someone following it can get the most out of it. The book, including the recipes and workout descriptions, are easy to follow with lots of understandable steps. Chatham also put a lot of extra info in the book that can help with weight loss, like a easy guide to calculating your BMI, for example.

The DASH Diet Health Plan is one of the best diet books on the market because it is thorough and well written and is backed by some powerful groups like the American Heart Association and the Mayo Clinic.

The regime could be confused with a diet for those with heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure, which it is. The research cited says that it is a very good remedy for them.

Follow the plan and you’ll be healthier and weigh less! John Chatham offers exactly what you need for success. He includes medical data, tells you how to determine your caloric requirements and even how you calculate your basic metabolic rate. These can be helpful.

You’ll find a 28 day exercise program which you can tailor it to your preferences. You will appreciate the shopping lists, menus and recipes for all the menus. I have already tried the yummy Pumpkin Pie for breakfast and the Hot Fudge Mocha Cake. You won’t have to lose investing in this book except weight!
