Great paper-- solution to trouble getting it on the color Nook

This is a wonderful newspaper and the primary reason I purchased a color Nook. In my original review I noted problems with getting the newspaper downloaded promptly to my color Nook. Since I noted that some other people were also having this problem, here's the solution offered by the tech support (which I finally got through to): on the bottom left side of the page there is a "sync" button--had two circular arrows in a box. Pressing this button should bring in your newspaper, etc. Worked for me.

Great to take my DMN with me everywhere...

I travel a great deal so it is a real treat to be able to grab my Nook on the way out the door of my hotel and catch up on the Dallas Morning News wherever I might be at the time. I actually enjoy the fact of being able to read the paper sans the ads that clutter up my old school hard-copy version back home. However, the format is not perfect.

Having to search through the articles one at a time takes some getting used to and don't get me started on the issues I had getting the subscription started after I inadvertently ordered it on an expired credit card..(hint: you have to wait 7 days and start all over, you lose your 14 day free trial and B&N Customer Service can't do a darn to help you).

The only other issue I have seen is with the Sunday edition. I sit here typing this reply at 10:30am CST on a Sunday and for some reason the Sunday edition is still not available. My daily editions are usually delivered automatically by 5:30am so I am not sure what the problem is but I will not waste the hour on hold with B&N to find out. I will just have to walk outside and get my hard-copy (sort of like an off site disaster recovery program)

All in all, if you can live with the little technical glitches of B&N service, and you can get used to the unusual format challenges, it is really comforting to be able to take my DMN with me wherever I go.

    Here's What You Get

The e-version for the Sunday edition DMN contains the following sections: News, Metro, Sports Day, Business, Guide Daily, Travel, and Points. At the beginning of each section is a list of the articles with links to jump right to the selected article. The BN descriptions stated there was no crossword puzzles included and no Parade magazine insert but it did not mention about the all important Comic section. So, fans of the Sunday comics will be disappointed that the comic section is not included.

    Go News!

Hey, I'm a purist. I have been reading the print edition of the DMN for 38 years. It is a phenomenal newspaper. I thought I would try the Nook version. But there is nothing like the feel of newsprint in the morning! I lament the inevitable demise of print media, and hope that journalism can survive the digital age. For those who are not addicted to newsprint, this is a decent alternative, although I wish it could be formatted more like the print version, like the subscriber edition online is.
